Handling Threatening Situations

The course identifies the different threatening situations a person can encounter.  It looks at challenging behaviour, its possible causes and warning signals.  The course identifies strategies that can be used to keep staff safe.

Duration

6 hours or 3 hours.

Objectives

By the end of the course the delegates will have the knowledge to:

  1. Identify their role in avoiding threatening incidents at work
  2. Identify the importance of abiding to and maintaining risk assessments
  3. Identify the early signs of difficulties
  4. Understand common triggers for incidents and how to maintain safety.
  5. Use techniques to manage the full range of challenging behaviours faced by staff
  6. Optional take part in a practical evasion and disengagement session

Attendees

The course is designed for individuals who work with those that display challenging behaviours/aggression.

Certification

Certificates will be issued upon completion of the course.
