This course provides the learner with knowledge, understanding and skills required to implement physical interventions. The purpose of physical intervention is to take immediate control of a dangerous situation, in order to end or significantly reduce the risk of harm to the person and others around them. Physical intervention involves some form of physical contact and application of force to guide, restrict or prevent movement. Time is spent allowing learners to demonstrate in a practical way situations they may encounter.
Who should attend?:
Staff working with individuals who have complex behavioural needs / continuing health care / severe challenging behaviour. N.B It will be made emphasised that there are some techniques demonstrated in this training that are considered ’last resort’ only.
