<p><strong>Who should attend?:</strong></p>
<p>Staff working with individuals who have complex behavioural needs / continuing health care / severe challenging behaviour. N.B It will be made emphasised that there are some techniques demonstrated in this training that are considered ’last resort’ only.</p>
<p><strong>Proposed Learner Outcomes &#8211; The worker must be able to:</strong></p>
<ol>
<li>Understand the context of the Positive Behavioural Support model</li>
<li>Understand the term ‘challenging behaviour’</li>
<li>Understand the context in which challenging behaviour occurs</li>
<li>Be able to contribute to the functional analysis in relation to an individual’s challenging behaviour</li>
<li>Understand the key characteristics of physical interventions</li>
<li>Be able to implement primary prevention strategies</li>
<li>Be able to use a person centred approach to develop plans that promote participation</li>
<li>Be able to implement secondary prevention strategies</li>
<li>Be able to implement non aversive reactive strategies</li>
<li>Be able to understand what can and can not be carried out as a physical intervention</li>
<li>Demonstrate physical interventions techniques to the group and carry out practical</li>
</ol>
