Dignity in Care Champions Training
This course is designed to train champions to ingrain dignity in care as part of the ethos of an organisation. The program helps those who attend to explore what Dignity in Care means to them as individuals, and in their professional practice. To gain the skills to share this with colleagues of in their organisation and ensure that dignity care becomes a core part of everyday care practice.
As part of this those who attend will study values and actions create a high quality service that respects people’s dignity.
This course identifies the ten key points required to provide dignity in care, how to apply them in reality in their day-to-day practice and mental coach others in maintaining dignity in care for their service users.
By the end of the course those who attend will be able to:
- Identify the importance of having zero tolerance of all forms of abuse
- Whistleblowing
- Organisational policy in whistleblowing
- Identify the levels of support and respect they want for themselves or a family member
- Identify the importance of person centred care in care settings and how this can be achieved by
- Listening and supporting people in their care’s ability to express their needs and wants
- Engaging with family members and carers as care partners
- Demonstrate how to maintain the maximum level of independence, choice and control by
- Communicating with people in them why they feel comfortable
- The use of appropriate levels of pain management
- Ensuring people feel in their care are able to complain without fear of retribution
- Assisting people to maintain confidence and positive self-esteem
- Acting to alleviate people’s loneliness and isolation
- Respecting people’s right to privacy
- Assess staff performance, needs and ability
- Identify the different types learning styles and how people learn
- Plan organisationally relevant training sessions
- Use a variety of training media and presentation techniques
- Identify how to communicate effectively in training sessions
- Manage and direct students
- Manage the transfer of skills from the training room to the workplace
- Research and plan training sessions
- Create relevant learning materials and resources
- Deliver a training session in a variety ways without PowerPoint
- Communicate and mange students effectively
- Evaluate training needs and programs
- Critically reflect on own practice
Certificates will be issued upon completion of the course.
