Reminiscence and Life History for Activities

This course shows you how to create, adapt and deliver reminiscence and life history work session for older people living in care settings and community.  The training sessions throughout the day are very practical, simple to understand, and easy to apply on the care floor.

Duration: 10am to 3.30pm

By the end of the course delegates will have the knowledge to understand:

  1. What is reminiscence and life history
  2. How to apply skills needed for conducting individual and group reminiscence and life history work
  3. The social and emotional changes that happen as we age. The affect these have on people and the role of reminiscence in alleviating some of these affects.
  4. The health and safety considerations required to keep the resident, the session leader and organisation safe
  5. How to provide sessions lasting between 15 and 45 minutes.

Attendees

The course is designed for individuals who work or volunteer with older people in residential and nursing homes, sheltered housing and day centres.

Certification

Delegates will be issued with certificates of achievement.
